It is a well-known saying that behind every great man, is a great woman.
This was certainly the case when it came to the world-famous evolutionist, Charles Darwin. Darwin’s theory of evolution and the interconnectedness of all living things was so significant that it completely changed the way people thought about life on earth.
Throughout Darwin’s work, he was supported unconditionally by his devoted and loyal wife, Emma Darwin. Whether Charles knew it or not, coincidently, the ancient meaning of the name Emma is entire, whole or complete – just as his theory on evolution, all life on earth being connected as a whole.
Often enough, Darwin’s theory is symbolised as the Tree of Life. This metaphor has been, and still is, the main design inspiration behind many of Clogau’s fine jewellery pieces. The combination of berries, leaves and vines represent new life forms that evolve from the old, creating new and beautiful formations.
In honour of Darwin’s love, Emma, we have created the exceptionally beautiful Emma’s Kiss collection (view collection here) which has been recognised and featured in the December ’10 issue of Vogue magazine.
The two-piece collection features an intricate yellow and rose gold ring, adorned with 18 diamonds, as well as a pair of yellow and rose gold stud earrings.
