This year is the start of our 25th anniversary celebrations, commemorating the founding of Clogau and all that has been achieved during this time. So to kick start the celebrations we organised a sponsored race night at Ffos Las Racecourse, Trimsaran, Llanelli.
The race night took place on Thursday 31st July – it was a fantastic afternoon of racing followed by a premier three-course meal at the Bridles Restaurant.
Our guests included some of our VIP customers, retailers, the Clogau team and some very special guests. Claire Jones, former royal harpist and Clogau Brand Ambassador played during the evening, Chairman and Captain of the Clogau Wales Polo team Harry Legge-Bourke and Ricky Cooper joined us, Welsh jewellery designer Sarah Jordan and guest were there, the fabulous milliner Robyn Coles and her husband attended, British Bridal Couture designer Stephanie Allin and Gerry Allin graced us with their presence, and ex Welsh Rugby Union star Derek Quinnell and his wife also joined in our celebrations!
The evening was the perfect platform to also launch our brand new Autumn & Winter campaign; Heritage.
Great things come from small beginnings…
Family sentiments, majestic filigree and Welsh gold encapsulate Clogau’s 25th anniversary Heritage campaign. The Clogau story is still in its infancy although our Royal heritage and cultural legacy spans the last century.
Royalty and Welsh cultural heritage are at the heart of the Company’s past, present and future. Welsh gold was first used by the Royal family in the investiture regalia for Edward, Prince of Wales in 1911 and again in 1969 for HRH, Prince Charles. The investiture took place at Caernarfon Castle on the fringes of Snowdonia, home to the Clogau St David’s mine. This same rare Welsh gold has also been used to create wedding rings for some members of the Royal Family since 1923.
The ties between Caernarfon and Royalty remain to this day. Clogau decided to set the Heritage Campaign against the aristocratic backdrop of Highclere Castle, the home of the current Earl and Countess of Carnarvon. Highclere Castle is the setting for the world famous TV series Downton Abbey and is set in the same period that Clogau began.
