Choosing the Perfect Wedding Band:
A Guide to Clogau Wedding Rings
How can we help you choose the perfect wedding ring? From style, to budget, to lifestyle, read below to find a curated guide, made just in time for wedding season, to help you choose the wedding rings that will reflect your love story.
When you wear your wedding band, you are taking part in a historic tradition that dates all the way back to Ancient Egypt, where couples exchanged rings made of hemp or weeds. At Clogau, our wedding rings are a little more elegant, offered in yellow gold, rose gold, white gold, platinum, or our 1854 blend!
A Promise in Gold
In your wedding band, you will find a signifier of an eternity spent with the one you love in the unbroken line of a circle. Wedding rings are worn on your left hand, due to the age-old belief of ‘vena amoris’, meaning the ‘vein of love’, thought to connect the fourth finger directly to your heart. Let’s have a look at the rings we offer below:
Yellow Gold
Considered a traditional choice, a yellow gold wedding ring is rich in its colouring, and ideal for those who enjoy the idea of an heirloom piece; something that can be passed down through generations. Considered the king of metals, gold will never go out of style.
Pure gold is too soft to be used safely in jewellery and is often alloyed with other metals to make it suitable for everyday wear, these being zinc, copper and silver, which make for a more durable piece. Higher karat pieces are softer and require a little more care, so you may want to consider your lifestyle when choosing your karat.

Rose Gold and 1854
Romantic and flirty with that sought-after vintage twist, rose gold is a great choice for those wanting a classic look. Made from an alloy of gold and copper, our rose gold wedding rings are unique in their pinkish colouring and work beautifully for couples wanting a statement of individuality on their special day.
Fall in love with our 1854 blend, with its signature rose-yellow hue encased in an 18K band, this style is irresistible to collectors who love the story of Clogau, with the name being a nod to the year gold was first discovered at the Clogau St David's mine.
Immerse yourself in the rich tones of rose gold, or take a journey through time with our Rose Gold and 1854 Wedding Rings.

White Gold
Want something sophisticated and modern, without the price tag of platinum? Bring to light the brightness of white gold. To give white gold its sleek and silvery shine, gold is often alloyed with manganese, nickel or palladium. All our gold items comply with the Dangerous Substances and Preparations (Nickel) (Safety) Regulations 2005, which sets strict limits on nickel release to help prevent allergic reactions. Want to know more? Look at the materials we use here.
White gold has rhodium plating to give a brilliant finish and dazzling shine. White gold rings may need rhodium replating in the future to retain the lasting brightness as this can fade over time. We offer this service, so just return your piece to us, and we will take care of the rest.
Discover elegance that will compliment a white wedding perfectly with our White Gold Wedding Rings.

Platinum
The most durable of metals, platinum retains its naturally bright white shine without the worry of tarnish or the need to rhodium replate in the future. Platinum has it all, from its luxurious weight, hypoallergenic qualities, to the exclusivity of wearing such a rare metal. If gold is the king, then platinum is the philosopher; rarer, wiser, and quietly more valuable.

Our Wedding Ring Top Tips
Budget: Considering your budget early will make your wedding ring journey much easier, from deciding on the metal to choosing the right karat.
Metal: Your wedding ring’s metal is all about personal preference and style, but here are a few tips to guide you in what might compliment your complexion:
- Warm skin tones: Yellow or rose gold will beautifully enhance your natural radiance.
- Cool skin tones: White gold or platinum is a great fit for those with blue undertones.
- Neutral skin tones: Lucky you, because both warm and cool metals will look equally lovely on you!
Karat: We offer our yellow, rose, and white gold rings in 9K or 18K. Our signature 1854 bands are crafted in 18K gold, whilst platinum, known for its strength and rarity, isn’t measured in karats. Keep in mind: higher karat means higher price.
Matching Rings: Would you like your wedding band to match your Compose by Clogau Engagement Ring? Or do you prefer to mix metals for a stylish twist? Both are timeless choices, and we love them equally. Our Platinum Wedding Rings are named after our Compose rings, from New Beginning to Love Divine, making your decision even easier!
Ring Size: To ensure a stress-free wedding day, we recommend having your finger sized ahead of time. You can do this in any of our Clogau Stores, or by ordering a Clogau Ring Sizer.
Engraving: Make your ring truly yours with our engraving service and etch a message that’s personal, romantic, or playful. Explore our Engraving Blog for inspiration.
Made to Order: Most of our wedding bands are made to order, so please allow 6–8 weeks for us to handcraft the most important piece of jewellery you will own.
